A training plan is like a walking stick for someone with a walking disability or a pair of training wheels for the youngest cyclists, a helping hand. It's a training plan that the company makes available to their new employees so that they have a clear starting point for the first period in their new workplace. A training plan should contain many different things, and below we will go through the most important points that you should include in your training plan to ensure that your new employee gets off to a good start. This will also help you avoid too much employee turnover in your company. Read more about that now.

What is employee turnover?

What is employee turnover, you ask? We'll tell you. Employee turnover is when a company has too much turnover in their staff. Turnover that is not due to downsizing, reassignment to another department, retirement, illness or death. When you talk about and measure employee turnover, you are looking at the employees that the company has not been able to retain.

Of course, there can be many different reasons why an employee chooses to leave, but as a company, you can help prevent this from happening. One way to do this is to provide them with a comprehensiveemployee handbook so that they can familiarize themselves with the company'spersonnel policy and their own rights in relation to illness, for example. An employee handbook can easily be held under one arm, leaving plenty of room to give the new employee a training plan for the other arm. A good training plan can also help ensure that the new employee stays with the company.

How do you create a good training plan?

When creating a good training plan, remember to keep your recipient in mind. It's for their sake that you create a training plan and, as we mentioned earlier, it should act as a helping hand for the new employee's first period in the workplace.

It might be a good idea to ask others for advice - perhaps a colleague who has recently had their first day at work. They will certainly be able to provide some useful reflections on what worked and what didn't when they started at your company.
