New rules for working from home‍

If this is the case in your workplace, you should be aware that new rules will soon come into effect for the home workplace.

This is clear after the Ministry of Employment issued a press release in February. It states that the government, together with the Liberal Party, the Danish People's Party, the Social Liberal Party and the Conservative Party, has agreed on a new model for the working environment rules that apply to homeworking.

Today, a number of special requirements apply to the design of so-called 'screen workstations'. The rules apply when the screen work either takes place during all working hours or regularly and the working hours correspond to one day or more within a normal working week. These rules are now being changed. The aim is to make the rules more up-to-date to reflect the fact that more and more people have a hybrid workplace.

 

The special screen rules

Thepress release states :

"When the special screen rules apply, the employee may - as today - use their private desk, chair and computer for screen work if the equipment meets the applicable requirements (e.g. adjustable chair and separate screen and keyboard) in the guidance on screen work.

If the employee's own equipment does not meet the requirements, the employer must ensure that the necessary furniture and equipment is available to the employee. For example, the employer can do this by providing the employee with work equipment such as a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, chair and lamp from the workplace.

With the new rules, employees will only be entitled to the above after more than two days of working from home over an average of one month.
